Staying in Ireland
The local area is flooded (sometimes literally) with great sites and activities. We’ve added a couple of lovely local spots, and if you have a couple of free hours during your visit, we’d really recommend checking them out:
Cliffs of Moher (link here): some of the best views along the Irish coast. For brave souls with some energy left after Friday’s festivities, we're planning an optional trip on Saturday...please join us if you're up to it - hot whiskey will be served.
The Wild Atlantic Way (link here): take a road trip and explore the surroundings of County Clare and the Wild Atlantic Way. Self described as “Castles, Cliffs, Caves, and Craic”, it’s definitely one to consider.
The Burren (link here): stark and beautiful, The Burren is definitely worth exploring. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site with an ancient, limestone landscape.
Dromoland Castle Activities (link here): golf, falconry (yes, falconry!), clay shooting, fishing or archery: Dromoland castle has a great golf course and also offers other on-site activities. Don will probably attempt to play very bad golf over the weekend, so we may organise a little friendly competition for those interested.
Honourable mention to some nice local towns:
Adare (30 mins): small village next to Adare Manor. Lovely for food, drinks, and picking up some local trinkets.
Galway (about 1 hr): big(ish) town. Great for history, music, and creamy Guinness. If you visit Galway, here's a great little B&B that Maddie and Don stayed at before. Pam and Tony are the owners, and they are legends.
Ennis (15 mins): historical local town known for being exceptionally tidy! Also promises good Guinness.

Things to do in County Clare
Good news for international travellers: you won’t be bored in Ireland, and there’s heaps of options to make this the adventure of a lifetime! We've put together few suggestions below, and please let us know if you have any specific questions. Don and family are always happy to help.
7 days in Ireland itinerary: this (link here) itinerary is a great general guide and highlights a lot of the key spots across the country. That being said, Don’s advice is “Don’t try to tick everything off. Pick a few things that look good, go at a slower pace and enjoy fewer spots. If you really like it, you’re always welcome back for a second visit!”
Discover Don’s home county: notably absent from the itinerary above is Don’s home county, Sligo. Clearly this is an oversight, and the blog owner has been notified to take action! Maddie once described Sligo as “The nicest place in the world, definitely much, much sunnier than Greensboro”*
*Maddie may not have actually said this.
Jokes aside, Sligo is a diamond - incredible natural history, super surfing, prime golfing, and the home of WB Yeats (for any poetry fans). Here (link) is a link to things to do in Sligo, but if you are headed that direction, get in touch with Don and he’ll make up a perfect plan just for you.
Dublin: Ireland's capital is a whole lot of fun. From nightlife to history to culinary delights, it’s got it all….with a special Irish charm on top. Here (link) is a handy list of some of the top activities to consider in Dublin.
Any questions at all on your Irish trip? Don’s on hand so don’t be shy….he could talk about Ireland all day.
Are children welcome at the wedding?
Children can join on the wedding day ceremony, but not the reception.
However, everyone is welcome to the welcome party and pub day!
If you will need a babysitter, we can help! Please contact our wedding planners for vetted, local sitter recommendations on: info@tarafay.ie
Where is the wedding ceremony?
The ceremony is taking place outside at Dromoland Castle. It will be covered if it rains, but we recommend bringing a jacket and wearing block heels or wedges instead of stilettos.
What is the dress code?
Welcome party: smart casual
Wedding day: formal/ black tie optional
Pub day: as casual as possible
